SELECTED CASE STUDY
Project Legacy - House Of Mkali
Building a Digital Home for a Multidisciplinary Artist
A real-client brand and digital marketing engagement developed from discovery and brand positioning through website strategy, content development, launch, distribution, measurement, and ongoing optimization.
MY ROLE
Brand & Digital Marketing Strategist · Creative Project Lead
FOCUS
Brand Strategy · Content Strategy · Copywriting · UX · SEO · Organic Social · Analytics
The challenge
Mikal Mkali had built a body of creative work across photography, writing, music, published work, and personal storytelling, but his digital presence did not yet communicate the full scope of who he was as an artist.
The challenge was to move beyond a photography-focused portfolio and create a cohesive brand and digital experience that could bring his multidisciplinary work together under one identity.
the strategy
The strategy began by redefining the brand around the artist rather than any single creative discipline. Instead of positioning Mikal primarily as a photographer, House of Mkali became the digital home for his complete creative identity.
From there, I developed an audience-focused content structure that allowed visitors to discover his photography, writing, music, published work, and personal story while maintaining a consistent brand experience. Messaging, navigation, visual direction, and content hierarchy were designed to help visitors understand not only what Mikal creates, but the artist behind the work.
The goal was not simply to showcase the work. It was to reveal the artist behind it.
the execution
I translated the strategy into a complete digital experience for House of Mkali, developing the site architecture, messaging, copy, visual direction, user experience, and content organization around Mikal’s multidisciplinary identity.
The experience was structured to guide visitors through distinct areas of his creative world—including photography, writing, music, published work, and his personal story—while maintaining a consistent brand voice and visual identity across the site.
I also implemented page-level SEO, responsive design considerations, organic social pathways, and analytics tracking to connect the creative experience with measurable marketing performance.
Every creative decision had a marketing purpose: help the audience discover the work, understand the artist, and continue exploring.
House of Mkali brings photography, writing, music, published work, and personal storytelling together within one cohesive digital brand experience.
launch & Distribution
Following launch, I developed an organic distribution strategy designed to move audiences from social content into the House of Mkali experience. Instagram and LinkedIn became entry points for introducing the artist, sharing creative work, and directing visitors toward deeper discovery on the website.
Rather than treating social media and the website as separate channels, I approached them as parts of a connected audience journey—from initial discovery through exploration and engagement.
Social Content → Artist Profile → House of Mkali → Creative Discovery → Engagement
MEASUREMENT & ANALYTICS
After launch, I established a performance baseline using GA4 and Wix Analytics to understand how audiences were discovering and interacting with House of Mkali. I monitored traffic, acquisition channels, device behavior, engagement, and movement through the site to identify early patterns and opportunities for optimization.
The initial data showed growing traffic and audience discovery across direct, organic social, search, and referral channels. Mobile represented the majority of site activity, reinforcing the importance of evaluating the experience through a mobile-first lens.
EARLY PERFORMANCE SNAPSHOT

49 Unique Visitors
77% Mobile Traffic

1.8 Pages per Session
Early search and social traffic provided useful discovery signals, while the data also identified opportunities to improve deeper site exploration and conversion behavior. These insights became the foundation for the next phase of testing and optimization.
Measurement turned the launch from a finished product into an evolving marketing system.
OPTIMIZATION & LEARNING
Performance data became the starting point for ongoing optimization. Rather than treating launch as the end of the project, I used audience behavior, traffic sources, device usage, and engagement patterns to identify where the experience could be strengthened.
Early findings reinforced the importance of mobile usability and highlighted opportunities to improve deeper site exploration and conversion pathways. These insights informed continued refinement of content hierarchy, navigation, internal linking, calls to action, SEO, and the connection between social content and the website.
The process also reinforced a core marketing principle: strategy should evolve with audience behavior. Each round of measurement creates new questions, new tests, and new opportunities to improve the experience.
Research → Strategy → Content → Distribution → Measurement → Optimization
Then one final takeaway
Project Legacy taught me how to connect creative thinking with measurable marketing decisions—from understanding an audience and defining a brand to building the experience, bringing people to it, measuring their behavior, and using those insights to determine what comes next.
THE OUTCOME
Project Legacy transformed House of Mkali from a photography-focused digital presence into a cohesive platform for a multidisciplinary artist. More importantly, the project demonstrated how research, brand strategy, content, storytelling, UX, SEO, distribution, and analytics can work together as one connected marketing system.
For me, the project represents the intersection of my experience in creative production, my background in rhetoric, and my growing work in digital marketing—using audience understanding and storytelling to make purposeful marketing decisions.
Build the strategy. Tell the story. Measure what happens. Make it better.
